The New Home Site

After much deliberation we purchased an acre lot in a neighboring township in February of this year. At the same time we were finalizing the house plans with our builder. The floor plan was a culmination of many hours spent on line reviewing floor plans, home exteriors and assessing how we live and how we want the new house to function. The house will sit on the lot facing north which allows us to take advantage of the eastern and southern exposure in the great room and sun room.
The new home site sits quite high and to the west we have a wonderful view over the town.

Moving Weekend

With the sale of the Snowdon home we moved to a rental for four months while the new home is built. We moved ourselves with the help of family and friends, needless to say we could not have done it without them.

The Thursday before the closing on the sale our house our area was hit with 5-6" of rain in a very short period of time causing much of the city to flood. We experienced the flood first hand when we had to navigate the flooded streets to rescue our daughter-in-law and 3 grandchildren who were stranded on one of the flooded streets. Fortunately our home stayed dry but the rental unit did not. The Friday before we moved in we discovered 4 ft. of water in the basement. By the end of that week most of the water issues had been resolved and we began to settle into the new digs. (We also can't wait to move out!)

Leaving Snowdon Drive

After ten years at our home on Snowdon we decided to pursue building our dream home. With this move we leave behind a home we both loved as well as fabulous neighbors and a beautiful yard. More than once we questioned how we could actually leave this house with the wonderful backyard oasis Mark created with the pond, fire pit, perennial and vegetable gardens. We spent many relaxing weekend evenings sitting around the fire with our neighbors Don and Penny drinking margaritas and cooking pizza over the open flame.
